EDAs constantly strive to utilize their given budget in the most effective way to support their communities and deliver meaningful economic development. Yet, despite important contributions, there is a clear lack of understanding regarding the EDAs’ organizational set-up and the outside perception of their online activities. We have studied 330 non-state EDAs across the country, representing a local population between 200.000 and one million (that is, 80%+ of all EDAs in the U.S.). In this publication, we compare the legal structures and some organizational characteristics of 68 city-, 174 county-, and 88 region-level EDAs.
